Ikat Rugs

An Ikat style rug features patterns created using a resist-dyeing technique on the yarns before they are woven into the rug's design. This process results in characteristic blurred or hazy edges where colors meet, giving the rug a unique, "bleeding" effect. While the word "Ikat" refers to the traditional technique, it also describes the patterns themselves, which can be found on both handmade and machine-printed rugs, ranging from traditional geometric and tribal designs to modern, abstract styles.
