Choosing the right rug depends on the room, furniture layout, and how much floor you want visible. A rug that is too small can make a room feel disconnected, while a rug that is properly sized helps anchor the furniture and make the space feel finished.
Measure before ordering. Use a measuring tape to determine the exact dimensions of the area you want your rug to cover. Do not guess on sizes.
As a general rule, living rooms often work best with 8' x 10' or 9' x 12' rugs. Bedrooms usually need enough rug to extend beyond the sides and foot of the bed. Dining rooms often need larger rugs than you would expect, because they need to be large enough for chairs to still sit on the rug after pulling them out. Hallways and kitchens usually need runners that leave a few inches of floor visible on each side.

Common Mistakes
The most common mistake our customers make is buying a rug that is too small for their area. While it can certainly be tempting to eyeball the dimensions and purchase a smaller rug to save on cost, this can often lead to an area feeling not quite connected. It is very important to actually measure the area that you want your rug to cover.
