What rug size do I need?

Measure the room before ordering. The rug should connect the furniture and leave a visible border of floor around the room.

Helpful rule: When you are between two sizes, the larger size usually gives the room a more balanced look.

Placement tips

Living room

Center the rug with the seating. At minimum, place the front legs of the sofa and chairs on the rug. Larger rooms usually look best when all furniture legs sit on the rug.

Dining room

Make sure chair legs remain on the rug when the chairs are pulled out. About 24 inches of rug beyond each side of the table is a useful target.

Bedroom

The rug should extend beyond the sides and foot of the bed. Place the rug under the lower two-thirds of the bed when it does not fit beneath the entire bed.

Runners

Leave a few inches of visible floor on both sides. Center the runner in the hallway or open walking path.

Round rugs

Round rugs work especially well under round tables and in square entry areas. Choose a diameter large enough to hold the furniture, not just the table top.

Measure before ordering

  1. Measure the exact length and width of the area.
  2. Use painter's tape to mark the rug outline on the floor.
  3. Check that doors, floor vents, and walking paths remain clear.
  4. View the taped outline from the room entrance before choosing.

Love The Subtle Pattern And Colors Of This Nourisan Rug

I was pleasantly surprised by this rug. The background color appears beige in the catalog but it is actually a very pleasant light green which happened to perfectly fit in with my drapes and bedding. Others may find this an unwelcome surprise. I took my own digital photo and my own photo matched what the rug looked like in the catalog and below, so I hope people read these reviews before purchasing a not-beige-at-all rug!

Lovely Design Motif On Nourison Rug

The Nourison Sumerset Rug has a an attractive, somewhat abstract floral design, that is eye-catching. The colors depicted in the description were beige and taupe with blue floral accents. When we unrolled the rug, it had a definite, pronounced olive green tone as the background. I was going to send it back, but after we viewed it for a few weeks, we decided to keep it. The patina is interesting, albeit, not what I had expecteted. at all. I did call the customer service representative, who said this shipment of rugs likely came from a different dye lot. I wish we had had the opportunity to view a sample prior to receiving the rug itself.

It's A Really Nice Rug

I bought this rug a couple of months ago and have been enjoying it ever since. It's pretty easy to remove any food stains from it. The rug looks beautiful and new even after all the cleanings. I must say it looks much more beautiful when you see it on your floor than it does on the pictures.

The rug is excellent for any area. I put it in the kitchen under the counters where I cook. Once, I spilled some of my cooking all over the rug and worried that the dirty spots will stay forever. But I was able to remove them easily with simple hand dish-wash liquid. I love my clean and beautiful rug.
