What rug size do I need?

Measure the room before ordering. The rug should connect the furniture and leave a visible border of floor around the room.

Helpful rule: When you are between two sizes, the larger size usually gives the room a more balanced look.

Placement tips

Living room

Center the rug with the seating. At minimum, place the front legs of the sofa and chairs on the rug. Larger rooms usually look best when all furniture legs sit on the rug.

Dining room

Make sure chair legs remain on the rug when the chairs are pulled out. About 24 inches of rug beyond each side of the table is a useful target.

Bedroom

The rug should extend beyond the sides and foot of the bed. Place the rug under the lower two-thirds of the bed when it does not fit beneath the entire bed.

Runners

Leave a few inches of visible floor on both sides. Center the runner in the hallway or open walking path.

Round rugs

Round rugs work especially well under round tables and in square entry areas. Choose a diameter large enough to hold the furniture, not just the table top.

Measure before ordering

  1. Measure the exact length and width of the area.
  2. Use painter's tape to mark the rug outline on the floor.
  3. Check that doors, floor vents, and walking paths remain clear.
  4. View the taped outline from the room entrance before choosing.

Care Information

Polypropylene/Olefin Care Instructions:
• Vacuum regularly using suction only or with the beater bar turned off.
• Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry white cloth. Do not rub or scrub the rug.
• For small spots, use mild detergent mixed with water. Test in a hidden area first.
• Blot the area with clean water to remove soap residue, then blot dry with a clean towel.
• Allow the rug to dry completely before placing furniture back on it.
• Rotate the rug periodically, especially in high-traffic areas, so wear and fading are distributed more evenly.
• Use a rug pad to reduce movement, help protect the floor, and extend the life of the rug.
• Indoor or outdoor use is recommended only if the label on the rug explicitly says so.

• Do not bleach.
• Do not use harsh chemicals, abrasive brushes, or high-powered vacuums.
• Avoid prolonged moisture. Do not leave the rug wet or folded while damp.

I really like the colors of these rugs. The rugs are thin not thick, but nonetheless I ordered for looks mainly. I really like these rugs and would order again. For the price I'm happy.

Exceptional Value

This is the 3rd rug of this type I have ordered over a several year period. I can attest to the fact that they are very durable and wear very well. They maintain their color and shape and are an exceptional value for the price. They are not super thick, but do not curl up and lay well on bare floor or over carpet. Would definitely recommend this rug!

I purchased a 5 x 7 area rug a few years ago and was looking for a smaller rug to go with it when I ordered this second one from arearugs. com because I'd had such a good experience the first time. The second rug matched perfectly! I've had many years of fairly high traffic wear on the first on and it still looks good, cleans well and that's why I decided to go back to this vendor. Dining Room Delight

Bought the rug to be used in the formal dining room. I needed something blue with a light terracotta color to blend the color combo I was going to use. The rug had enough terracotta to blend the curtains, to the rug, to the hardwood oak flooring. It actually brought the room together nicely!
